Antimicrobial efficacy testing
Paints, varnishes & coatings
Testing paints, varnishes, coatings and coated surfaces for resistance to microbial attack, mould resistance and antimicrobial properties.
Available test methods
The following methods assess the mould resistance of paints, varnishes and coatings and the efficacy of film preservatives against fungi and algae. Antibacterial testing using a method adapted from ISO 22196 can additionally be performed on suitable dried coating surfaces with antibacterial treatments. The appropriate method depends on whether the objective is to assess material resistance, film preservation or antibacterial activity.
