Paper & cellulose-based materials
Antimicrobial efficacy testing category
Paper & cellulose-based materials
Assessment of the resistance of paper, paperboard, cardboard and other cellulose-based materials to fungal colonisation and microbial growth.
Available test methods
Paper, paperboard and cellulose-based materials can be colonised by fungi under damp conditions or when exposed to microbial contamination. The following test methods assess fungal resistance, mould resistance and resistance to microbial growth in paper and paperboard materials. Depending on the testing objective, the sample type, incubation conditions, test organisms and evaluation period can be agreed for the specific project.
ASTM D2020 / UMA 6006
Assessment of the resistance of paper, paperboard and comparable cellulose-based materials to fungal growth and microbial surface colonisation.
